Is the Janome 8080 for You?

Reviewers agreed that this machine works smoothly and quietly on thin fabrics, but it does have difficulty with thick fabrics or multiple layers. Several suggested that this was made easier by using an appropriate needle, like the Schmetz Jean & Denim Needles, #16 for sewing heavy fabrics like denim.

While the Janome 8080 has a one step button-holer, it goes “backwards”, compared to most machines. While this was an issue for some, others said it just took some getting used to.

As with most sewing machines, this Janome sewing machine will sometimes jam up in the bobbin area. Keeping this area free of lint and dust will help to prevent jamming.

To access the bobbin area, one must unscrew the faceplate. Some reviewers considered this to be a nuisance.

Others felt that the built in needle threader was a bit tricky to use.

Over all, most liked the Janome 8080 sewing machine, even though it had some minor annoyances to deal with.

Reviewers felt that it was good value for the money, and, if used for appropriate projects, the Janome 8080 gave them the performance that they expected from Janome machines.

Most said that they would purchase the 8080 again.
