While savvy beginners can use this machine thanks to its color-coded threading system, serger type sewing machines are not as forgiving as conventional machines, so mistakes due to inexperience can be costly. However, there is a learning curve with any machine, so I wouldn’t let this hold me back.
The Brother 2340 CV is sensitive to cheap thread, so the extra expense of top-quality thread (times four for the full-sized coverhem stitch) may make a dent in your pocketbook.
This Brother coverstitch machine sews extremely fast, as is the case with most coverstitch machines, and some owners report that the foot pedal takes some getting used to.
